Network events are just not worth your time
Helping others should be a common extension of the responsibilities of each business leader. Sadly, it is not as easy as you might think. As leaders, we are always very busy with our business or challenges to provide people with the help they need.
However, there is an awareness at the right time that most prominent customers, partners, and relationships are full of people helping someone.
One of the easiest ways to help others is to share only your knowledge. You do not have to be in front of a class to teach. Every day there is an opportunity to reassure someone about your expertise. Ways to keep teaching yourself to stay ahead of the curve.
The number one rule of thumb is to find out what really matters to someone. You could waste your time and try to help someone with something they didn’t want to be helped with. Try asking them where they need help, and keep that in mind when you see an event.
Think about the resources you have invested in and see if they can help someone else. Maybe an engineer in your team has more time and one of your contacts needs some help with a quick job.
Or, maybe you have tickets for a particular game season and there’s a game you can’t go to. Keep those archives below or empty after your memory and try to connect them to people who can use them.
Join groups you like
Without the knowledge and devices we have received from us today, there is no such thing as personal contact with others. Covering yourself with people who have the same things in you can help you grow in both your work and your personal life.
The network encourages technological growth, helps you gain access to resources, and can bring you, new friends, for life. In my opinion, social networking has helped many to connect with others I would never have met if it had not been for a networking group.
These people shared their understanding with them and provided them with ideas to help them grow professionally. On a personal level, they have formed new relationships and have learned to grow beyond their comfort zone.
Whether you are an organizer, an official, an office manager, a photographer, an educator, or a salesperson, there is a good chance that there will be a professional organization in your field of work.
Regular contact with others in your industry can help build credibility in your field and help you stay on top of the latest tools and information. If you do not get involved in your area, join others in your work and start one.
Worried about mixing with your competition? There is customer and business mobility and communication with those in your field can really help you – you will be able to find better professional opportunities for the community you meet.
What is true communication?
Attending social events and attending local meetings is a great way to meet new people, but it is not a good way to get to know someone. Meetings are not for work. Talking about money or business is always boring.
If you want to be safe from social media you have to create personal relationships and not just business relationships. You can do this by covering a wide range of topics, such as sports, family, or anything else that you think might interest someone.
When you complete your first meeting you will see that you are building friendships and not just business relationships.
