Generally, you use the Internet Speed Meter to check the speed of the Internet. It works for you but does not provide accurate measurements. Sometimes it does everything right with the speed of the internet but in reality it is different from the actual rate and you face a high ping problem in playing online games, downloading media files and etc.
In this guide, I will show you in practice how to test your internet speed on Windows, Mac and Linux. I will do this to check the speed of the internet through the “ping” command at the command prompt. Before we start our work, let’s discuss the word “ping” a little bit.
What is Ping?
A “ping” is a computer science term abbreviated to Packet Internet or Internet Grouper.
“Ping is a computer network administration software utility used to test the reachability of a host on an Internet Protocol network. It is available for virtually all operating systems that have networking capability, including most embedded network administration software.” Wikipedia
Similarly, ping here describes the process of a computer in which several packets of information are sent to a specific device via IP address or URL and then wait for a response.
When we receive a response, it says in more detail, such as how long it took for the package to return, and if no response is received, it is proof that the package has been lost.
With this, you can check if your computer can actually access your local network or other devices on the Internet, you can also fix the problem you are facing. Local network. (Internal) or external (ie servers and companies Internet service providers)
